The Challenge
A capable studio with only one visual identity.
The existing production space supported cameras, lighting, interviews, and podcasts—but every format shared the same open room and limited background options.
The creative challenge was not simply to decorate the studio. It was to create a repeatable production system that could support multiple business stories without permanent construction, long resets, or added off-site production costs.

My Role
Creative Direction & Production Design
- Creative direction and spatial brand experience
- Production strategy and studio workflow planning
- Environmental and scenic design
- Modular, fabricator-ready design system
Before: Existing Studio
Treat the room like a content platform—not a single set.

Existing studio — fixed visual environment
Existing production footprint and equipment flow
Existing lounge, backdrop, and lighting in a shared open room
The Direction
A modular scenic system built around the stories NRG tells.
I developed six visual environments mapped to real communication needs—from executive interviews and innovation updates to training, podcasts, culture stories, and cinematic leadership content.
01 / Flexibility
Change the world, not the room.
Rolling panels create wide sets, corner environments, and compact configurations without permanent construction.
02 / Brand
Consistent, never repetitive.
Every scene stays recognizably NRG while shifting its tone for leadership, innovation, learning, or culture.
03 / Production
Designed through the lens.
Matte finishes, acoustic surfaces, camera-safe LEDs, practical lighting, reinforced mounts, and cable control are built into the system.
The System
Six looks from nine double-sided walls.
A strategic system that multiplies storytelling options without multiplying the production footprint.

Distinct scene families
1
Adaptable production system
System scope: production zones, content formats, and launch assets—not performance KPIs.
Outcomes
Creative direction that improves both the image and the operation.
More content variety
Distinct environments expand the kinds of stories the internal team can produce without leaving the studio.
Faster transitions
Pre-designed configurations reduce setup decisions and help crews move efficiently between production formats.
A scalable brand asset
The system can grow through reversible finishes, interchangeable branded elements, and compact panels without rebuilding the foundation.
Production-aware design
Every visual decision accounts for camera angles, lighting control, acoustics, storage, mobility, safety, and fabrication.
Creative leadership
From an open room to an ownable experience.
This project brought together brand strategy, art direction, environmental design, production knowledge, and technical planning.
The outcome is more than a collection of backgrounds. It is a creative operating system designed to help NRG tell more stories, with greater consistency, inside the space it already owns.
“This wasn't about building one better background. It was about creating a system that could continuously become the background each story needed.”
